MHz RFID contactless smart card and virtually any contact smart card. The
dual interface feature economically supports end-user environments where
both contactless and contact smart card technology may be in use.
The CardMan 5121
allows users to experience the convenience, speed, and security of
contactless technology for applications including log-on to Windows®,
networks, websites, and applications or the secure storage of user names,

ideal combination of contact and contactless technology in a single
device. The housing design is optimized for advanced user convenience in
contactless applications.
The improved contactless
field provides a higher transmission speed of up to 848 kbps depending on
the contactless card used. As with the CardMan® 5121, it supports three
ISO standards for contactless cards (ISO 14443 A/B and 15693), and the ISO

transmission rates of up to 420 KBits per second, exceeding the
performance of other smart card readers.
Standards
Because the CardMan® 3621 complies with all relevant industry
standards (ISO 7816, EMV (Europay®, Mastercard®, Visa®) 2000, Microsoft®
WHQL, USB CCID, PC/SC, HBCI (Home Banking Computer Interface, the PC-2001
Specification and many more) it is open for any smart card on any computer

Security-Features
The CardMan® 3621 allows for Secured PIN
Entry (SPE) with its 16 keys integrated keypad. The content on the smart
card is protected by a PIN (Personal Identification Number) to prevent
unauthorized copying or use of the information stored on the card. The
sensible data is neither stored on the PC nor communicated via insecure
PC/reader connection but remains only on the card.

A FINREAD card reader is a universal PC
peripheral device intended to secure smart card initiated transactions on
the Internet. It guarantees highest end-to-end security in an untrusted
environment (e.g. at home).
CardMan® Trust FINREAD is an ISO 7816 and EMV 3.1.1
compliant smart card reader designed to meet the FINREAD
specifications. The internal memory may host different software modules: a
permanent core software (virtual machine) and one or several Finlets, each
dedicated to a given type of smart card application.
Being Java applets running in a FINREAD device, Finlets are
extensions of the related FINREAD application running on a PC. That means,
the host can download Finlets containing high security functionality into
the Card Reader to be executed there. Finlets perform sensitive functions
that require additional protection, such as securing the PIN entry or
displaying security sensitive information. They also secure the
information sent to the user's computer.
Interoperability guarantees, that those applets developed by or under the
responsibility of different application providers (e.g. payment, health or
government scheme, etc) can be downloaded into any FINREAD device.
CardMan® Trust FINREAD can also be operated in a non-secure
transparent mode where it can be used with any type of smart card that
does not have an associated FINREAD applet.

7121 combines smart card technology with biometric fingerprint
recognition. The CardMan® 7121 is a reliable desktop device to
connect to a PC via USB. It is especially well suited for logical
